I’m Zack Peñalva. For the past three years, I’ve worked as the Marketing and Social Media Coordinator for Investors Heritage Life Insurance Company in Frankfort, Kentucky. I’ve been involved in developing and executing multi-state marketing campagins, designing marketing materials for print and online use, building and maintaining webpages, and acting as an administrator and content creator for our company’s social media.

Previously, I worked as a sports journalist at The Springfield Sun in Springfield, Kentucky. As the only person on the sports desk for a small-town paper, I wore a lot of hats. Besides providing coverage of multiple high school sporting events each week, I also was the primary photographer for sport and community events. I was also responsible for the creation of graphics and overall page design.
I received my bachelor’s degree in journalism and digital storytelling with minors in public relations and Spanish from Asbury University. During my time at Asbury, I had a lot of chances to grow and operate within all sorts of media. I served as the sports editor of the campus newspaper, The Asbury Collegian for the three years, assigning and creating articles for the print and online editions. I interned for the Asbury Sports Information Office as an online content writer and social media manager. I scheduled posts for the department’s Instagram page and created graphics to promote upcoming events.
